Verdict

Royal Defence is better than his Brighton no-show however a safer option may be PLYMOUTH ROCK who is selected in preference to Magic Echo and Itlaaq in a competitive finale. Jeremy Noseda's colt made a pleasing reappearance at Kempton, eventually finishing second to the well-ridden Kidlat. That horse hasn't really franked the form since but this well-bred fellow is fancied to continue improving and with ground conditions in his favour he should run well. Magic Echo was a winner at Newcastle last time and she is considered, although a 5lb higher mark will ask more question in this stronger race. Itlaaq makes his reappearance this afternoon and John Dunlop excels with this type of horse. He improved markedly in his second season but may show even more progression this year over this trip and further. Bullet Man was readily held at Chester last month but the former Luca Cumani inmate is not discounted, along with Sanctuary who is a course and distance winner and he won in June a year ago. Putra One deadheated with Tinshu at Windsor on slower ground last month, but along with Ordoney and Satwa Moon (needs rain), is not taken on lightly. Visions Of Johanna got the job done here last month when backed to do so but is hard to fancy off this new mark unless the money comes again, whilst The Galloping Shoe was an eye-catcher on more than one occasion last year and has not produced anything of note for Alistair Whillans so far this year. The market may prove informative in this concluding race but we are happy enough to plump for Plymouth Rock.
