Verdict
A difficult race to fathom but one in which First Among Equals holds form claims over Intigold and Gee Four. First Among Equals finished third in the Rous Stakes at York. The winner has gone on to score since while the second was far from disgraced in a similar race. The drop back in trip could be a potential bananaskin but Anne Duffield's horses are capable of running well when ran at their correct level and this appears to be this. Intigold has plenty of pace but appears somewhat harshly treated by the handicapper at present off a mark of 64. At today's terms he does have something to find on bare figures. Gee Four won at Brighton over five furlongs but has ran two shockers over further. Market confidence is required before we will be getting involved. Dream Of Paradise shaped well on a first start behind Luberon but failed to capitalise second time out. Howards Call often runs on but has plenty to do here. Not a great race but one in which First Among Equals secures the nod.
