In depth
Verdict
War Owl has returned to the turf in good form and has to be respected off his light weight but preference is for Kentucky Blue who comes here fit from hurdling and will relish the underfoot conditions. Michael Jarvis has his string in good order at present so it would come as no surprise to see the top weight Red Fort go well, although an ability to handle the ground has to be taken on trust, while Telemachus, who does go on a soft surface, has become a shade frustrating. Jockey bookings suggest that Broadway Score is preferred over the ex-Irish Arawan of Mick Easterby's two runners, while La Sylphide, who won here on the soft in September now races off a career high mark. There are reasonable doubts concerning his fitness having been off since November though and we prefer to side with Kentucky Blue who has ticks in all the right boxes.
