Verdict

Several of today's races here could develop into a battle for dominance between the powerful Howard Johnson and Donald McCain yards and the latter is fancied to draw first blood with SARA'S SMILE. The mare was surprisingly beaten at odds-on at Exeter last time but got the better of the higher-rated American Ladie at Chepstow in March and is proven on this fast ground. Gin Cobbler has scope but has been a shade disappointing so far while Knockaveen is already thoroughly exposed, though might appreciate the better going. The others look a modest bunch.
