Verdict
Be Fair knows his way around here having scored twice at the track and if the surface remains sound, he looks difficult to get away from on this occasion. The Blushing Flame gelding has been very much the talisman of Don Cantillon having finished second to Classic Native in the 2003 renewal of the Martell Champion Bumper. His future lies over chase fences but this could be a nice prize en route. The Dark Lord needs fast ground and certainly relished it when he trounced his opposition over 2m4f at Worcester last Summer. He scored readily on the day but the third horse was rated just 97 and a strict line of form would suggest that he will need to have improved in order to score here.Ex-pointer Eva So Charming is sure to be popular. Chasing is likely to be the plan in the future and any market support must be acknowledged. The Indispensable rates the major danger if fit from absence. He finished fourth to Eskimo Jack in a Navan Maiden a few years ago and the fact that JP McManus has persevered with him must speak volumes. Musimaro is likely to attempt to force the pace. On all known form to date, we believe that Be Fair will take the beating in this contest.
