Why The Big Paws has yet to prove her effectiveness over today's trip and preference is for Harlov, who gets the vote ahead of Lord Capitaine. The last mentioned represents the in-form yard of Howard Johnson and has had a good season with wins at Sedgefield and Catterick but he has paid the penalty for those successes with a steady rise in the weights. Warwick winner Auburn Spirit disappointed off his new mark when returning to the same venue last month and of more interest may be Rosie Redman, who has been given a two-month break since her latest start here. Gimme Shelter has to race off a 13lb higher mark than when scoring at Hexham last month and may struggle in this company. The vote then goes to Harlov. Alan Parker's stable is in better form now as the 10year-old showed when running out the winner of a handicap at Bangor in February. The Ray Anderson Green-owned gelding was not at his best here subsequently but is worth another chance off his current mark under conditions that suit.
