Diamond Lodge and Welcome Stranger look to be the big players here, with Diamond Lodge getting the vote, and Dawn Surprise likely to mount a strong challenge of her own. The selection has been making eyecatching progress in completing a hat-trick in the past six weeks and excels at this trip, where two of those wins came at Windsor and Newmarket. Also a lover of fast ground, there still looks to be a bit more to come and she can find what is required to make it four from four. Recent course and distance winner Welcome Stranger will not be far away. James Eustace's gelding loves to hear his hooves rattle and only a head defeat at Ascot has prevented him also completing a quick-fire hat-trick. That recent defeat of Arkholme here suggested that he, too, has not finished winning and he will give the selection plenty to do. Of the remainder, Dawn Surprise looks likely to go well. The Godolphin filly was an easy winner of a Salisbury maiden in June and there was no disgrace in her fifth to Peeress at Newmarket a month back. She has plenty of ability, but the worry is that Godolphin's runners are not quite at their best just at present and so she is passed over. Diamond Lodge is the one for us here.
