In depth

Verdict

Unless one of the newcomers is above average, this looks set to go to Kawagino, who has far and away the best form of those to have run. Nerys Duttfield's three-year-old had several decent efforts to his name as a juvenile, including when filling third spot in the Group 3 Coventry Stakes at the Royal meeting. The only surprise was that he failed to get his head in front before the end of the season. However, this is the easiest task he has had to face and he should make no mistake. Bi Polar is bred to do better over middle-distances and will surely be more at home when tackling handicappers, while the consistent Regent's Secret, (five times a runner-up as a juvenile), shouldn't be good enough at this level, even allowing for the fact that his stable are in top form. Graduation Day is open to improvement and his second to Tout Seul was given a real boost when the latter went on to win the Dewhurst.
