In depth

Verdict

A decent sprint handicap and with the stalls on the stands' side, it could pay to be drawn low. Next to the rails is Baralinka, who proved herself a real money spinner last term picking up three races along the way. Paul Cole's filly will not mind the ground and as she showed last year, she does go well fresh. Caribbean Coral was something of an under-achiever last year, but that does enable him to start off this season on his lowest mark for 19 months. Miss George isn't as good on turf as she is on the All-Weather, while both Greenslades and Mitcham have plenty to do from their draws. Lochridge was much improved last term and is respected, even though she has to race off a 9lbs higher mark than when beating Birjand at Newmarket last year. She is out of champion sprinter Lochsong, who got better as she got older. However, a chance is taken with Compton Dynamo, even though he has yet to win on turf. A dual All-Weather winner, he turned in several decent efforts, often in the face of some stiff tasks and while this will be no different, he has gone well fresh in the past, is well drawn, not far off the rails and he will handle the fast ground.
