In depth

Verdict

Dixie Bright is probably capable of running a big race from a mark of 67, while neither Wasmi nor Micky's Knock Off will be easybeats, but we'll take a chance here on LOVE MATCH. James Given's Dixie Bright is visored for the first-time here and dropped back in trip, after three ordinary efforts in his last three starts. Prior to that he had won a Wolverhampton maiden that, one horse aside, has not worked out tremendously well. Having said that, the form of the race suggests that he can get much closer now dropped to this mark and the headgear might also spark him up. Wasmi has won two of her six starts so far and races here from a 4lb higher mark than when winning over course and distance last time. She has to be taken very seriously. Micky's Knock Off carries an extra 6lb burden courtesy of a ready Musselburgh win last time and with the yard still in form he is likely to make a bold follow-up bid, though he has the worst of the draw. Bell's Ocean has a better pitch in stall nine and looks more than capable of being involved from the same mark as when thereabouts last time, though Point To Prove tried to do too much too soon here earlier in the month and will need handling differently if he is to figure again. Chicita Banana would not be winning out of turn, but we prefer Love Match. Roger Charlton has had a couple of winners in recent days and this Danehill Dancer filly makes her handicap debut from a mark of 68 here. That should enable her to get very competitive, after a decent effort in a Folkestone maiden last time, and she is likely to handle this surface. Admittedly she doesn't have the kindest of draws, but we should see her true ability now in this sphere and she is suggested.
