In depth

Verdict

Sassy Girl was far from disgraced in an Irish Group 3 a couple of outings ago and is taken to breeze past this lot in what is a significant ease in grade for the daughter of King's Best. The lightly-weighted Melt and Spiritofthestorm are others to note in the betting, while Moment's Notice, who heads the ratings from the home-trained contingent, has to merit consideration. The last named ran as if something was amiss when she was eased at Newcastle earlier this month and may simply not have enjoyed the soft ground. The jury is still out as to whether her sire (Beat Hollow) has produced progeny that truly handle this surface, but, as she is nicely bred, Sylvester Kirk's charge cannot confidently be dismissed. Spiritofthestorm has coped well with the demands of Kempton in two previous visits to the track and, as an unexposed individual, she may still have plenty to offer. A mile suits her ideally, so each-way punters could do worse than consider a small stakes investment. Melt showed improvement last time out and, as she steps up to a more appropriate trip, the daughter of Intikhab can come into her own when she is handicapped. However, it is hard to get away from Sassy Girl, who although undoubtedly flattered by her current Irish mark of 92, has shown form head and shoulders above anything else and she is expected to be hard to beat at this level.
