In depth

Verdict

Political Intrigue could be on the upgrade and has the scope to beat his older rivals, including Mexican Pete, Prenup and Anna Pallida. Henry Cecil obviously rates Political Intrigue to pitch him in against older opponents here, a ploy that often works when a scopey three-year-old meets exposed older rivals at this time of year. The son of Dansili routed his rivals at Pontefract a fortnight ago, making all under Richard Hughes, and makes his handicap debut off a mark of 80. That gives him three-pound and upwards in hand of his opponents here, and they will all have a job on to stop him once again cracking out and dominating from start to finish. Mexican Pete was only just denied by Ouninpohja at Doncaster last week and he should again go well without being quite good enough to open his account for the season. Prenup has yet to hit form and now moves up in trip, while Anna Pallida surely has it to do off topweight despite the stable's current run of form. All in all, this looks best left to Political Intrigue.
