Verdict

A fine renewal of this prestigious Group 1. Joseph O'Brien has two entries and New York Girl takes a big drop in trip after running in the Derby and Oaks at the Curragh. She was just over 2 lengths behind PEACEFUL in the 1000 Guineas on the same track and this appears to be her best trip. The winner had no problems seeing off Fancy Blue in the classic and though the positions were reversed in the French Oaks Peaceful can gain her revenge back over this trip. Albigna started a short-priced favourite in the fillies' classic but got upset beforehand and didn't enjoy the fast going. She didn't please everyone when runner-up to Thundering Nights in a Curragh Group 3 last month but probably just needed the run to put the edge on her. So Wonderful has finally found winning form and it wouldn't be a great shock to see her go well while Johnny Murtagh's pair Champers Elysees and Know It All are running well enough to get into contention.
