Verdict
It may be a stab in the dark but as none of those with experience are anything out of the ordinary, a chance is taken with the well-bred newcomer Soviet Threat. Others to consider are Crocodile Kiss and Farthing, who have hinted that they can win a race somewhere along the line and are worth noting in running. However, Michael Bell, whose own racing club part-owns Soviet Threat, has to be respected when he introduces an animal at this level. Bell had a 9% strike-rate with horse first time out last season, which was boosted to 14% when they tried their hand in maidens. Therefore it is safe to assume that the Newmarket handler has done his homework on today's opposition. It is also feasible that Soviet Threat will become the best supported if she has already shown them plenty at home. However, a careful eye on the activities in the betting ring is advised before getting too heavily involved.
