In depth
Verdict
A distinct theme is prevalent in the finale, as the re-booking of Eddie Ahern for Daybreak Dancer really takes the eye and the Irishman can get one over on his fellow countryman Neil Callan, who teams up with Conjecture, who was a major let down on his debut and turns up with a few points to prove. It is early days to writing off the David Loder-trained colt who, comfortably held Enemies Of Jazz when they met here just over a fortnight ago. However, in truth, he showed very few signs of encouragement and his future looks set to be carved out in modest handicaps if he fails to sparkle again today. The son of Danzig is not one to be taking a short price about. Bold Maggie fared better than her finishing position would suggest from last time out, as she was hampered badly at the start. She may well appreciate the drop in trip and is worth monitoring in the betting in this company. However, Daybreak Dancer looks a stronger proposition at this stage and this former inmate of leading Irish trainer Dermot Weld's does not have much to find to make his second start on these shores a winning one if he can stay out of trouble today.
