Verdict

Humphrey Bogart is the only one without a Derby entry but he stayed 1m2f when going close in the Epsom Derby Trial last month. Ballydoyle have won four of the last eight renewals but Landofhopeandglory didn’t cover himself in much glory when only fourth at Newmarket on his reappearance. A couple of winners have come out of the maiden race Winning Story won at HQ last month but Across The Stars appears to have an uphill task on the bare form of his maiden win on the all-weather here, despite beating a subsequent winner. CARNTOP won easily over a mile at Newmarket in October but should really come into his own over middle-distances. Ralph Beckett has chosen this race for his charge rather than next week’s Dante and he gets a speculative vote on his return to action.
