    In depth

HERMITAGE BAY sets the standard but all his form has been delivered over 7f and a mile to date. However, connections clearly feel that the best way for the son of War Front to enter the winner's circle is via this dramatic drop in trip. He is a free-going sort and John Gosden has found a good-looking opportunity. The rest to have run look limited and it is likely to be the two newcomers - Justice Smart and Mustallib - both of whom hail from top yards and are well bred who should provide the greatest threat. Significant market support for either would need to be taken seriously in such an ordinary maiden.
