Verdict
Ever Cheerful has more to do, especially under a 7lb penalty, than when landing a seven-furlong seller at Wolverhampton last time and preference is for Miss Adelaide, who gets the vote over Tayif. The last mentioned has been running consistently well in claimers over this trip of late and has to be respected back in a handicap today. The handicapper has given the eight-year-old Paddywack a chance by dropping him in a couple of pounds but David Chapman's gelding needs to improve on recent efforts to trouble the judge and of more interest may be Border Edge, who won over 1m2f here last time and cannot be ruled out over this much shorter trip having shown plenty of speed in the past. Double M and Gone'n'dunnett are others worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Miss Adelaide. The Barry Hills-trained filly has been much improved since dropped to sprint trips, latterly when landing a handicap over the minimum trip at Wolverhampton. The extra furlong should not inconvenience the daughter of Alzao, who is taken to defy a 7lb rise in the weights.
