        Verdict

Several have chances here, including: Casemate, Beau Marche and Taipan Tommy, who have all got at least placed form to their names from recent outings. However, preference goes to Royal Pardon, who is less exposed than many and starts this season on a very fair mark. The selection ran well behind subsequent English 2,000 Guineas runner up Rebel Rebel when they met over course and distance last September - an effort that reads very well in the context of this race. Michael Bell is more than capable of getting one ready for its first appearance of the season and, with normal improvement anticipated, Royal Pardon rates as good value in a field like this. Taipan Tommy has experience of the All Weather surface here but has yet to really convince on turf. He also has a little to prove regarding the trip and may prove to be a risky proposition. Beau Marche has a similar profile and is not one to trust implicitly. However, he will get every assistance from Richard Quinn in the saddle and he is worth noting for each-way support. Casemate won over a mile on his penultimate start and shapes as if he can continue to pay his way this season. He would not want any rain, though. Still, the predicted going should not be a problem for Royal Pardon. This half-sister to Pachara and Queens Jubilee has shown plenty of speed in her previous races, but always created the impression that her future lays between seven furlongs and a mile. Royal Pardon has not been over faced with her first chance to prove it this season.
