In depth

Verdict

A competitive novices' handicap to conclude proceedings and the leading players look to be Lyster, Armoury House and Brinkmanship, with the vote going to Lyster. The selection was an easy scorer at Hereford the other day and a 7lb penalty does not look enough to stop him following up. The drop back in trip is a slight worry, but he travelled well that day and acts on this ground so he gets the vote. Armoury House was value for more than his winning margin at Fontwell last time, which came over 2m 4f and on fast ground. A 7lb rise looks fair enough and another good run is anticipated. Brinkmanship appears to act on any ground though has won only with cut. This trip suits but he may just have too much weight, while Beaver has held his form well enough on the flat, so if he can do so over hurdles then he has a squeak too, but Lyster gets the vote.
