In depth

Verdict

Blue Buster has obvious claims, with only Rogues Gallery having the form to give him a race in the finale. Mick Easterby likes to get a win or two out of his bumper runners before they go hurdling, and should get another success out of Blue Buster today. The gelding won as he liked on his return at Sedgefield and then lost no caste in defeat against the highly-rated Refinement at Aintree. That form is by far the best on offer and he should prove too good for the ex-Irish Rogues Gallery who was quietly fancied at Newcastle but did not have the assistance of Graham Lee who had picked up an injury the day before. No disrespect to the claimer who rode him instead, but he will get a far more experienced ride here from Tony Dobbin. As for the rest of these, the market may tell us if Sarawak is ready, but he is well-bred and should win in time. On this occasion though, Blue Buster holds all the aces.
