Verdict
This isn't as competitive as the numbers might suggest with the top weight Classic Role having a handicap mark of 73, which isn't that much better than a platers mark. However, he does stay well and turned in a sterling effort behind the progressive Prins Willem at Doncaster last month, off a 1lb lower mark than his current mark. Jadeeron has more ability than he cares to show, and it remains to be seen whether this trip will be beneficial to him. Triplemoon has become well treated on the best of her form. She isn't the easiest of rides, but showed herself to be in fair form at Sandown when beaten less than four lengths by Sergeant Cecil. She can run off a 2lbs lower mark here and is one to enter calculations. Kent is much better on the All-Weather, but the only three-year-old runner in the field Once is an interesting runner. Michael Bell's colt didn't handle the undulations of Goodwood and Brighton and is better judged on his run at Newmarket back in April, where he was doing his best work in the closing stages behind Harcourt, over 10-furlongs. He comes from the same family as the useful stayers Sherrif's Star and St Leger winner Moon Madness, so there is every reason to believe he will improve for this trip. He has been dropped 3lbs by the Handicapper, so he just scrapes in on the maximum mark. He is lightly raced and has some improvement in him, so he has plenty going for him and gets a confident vote to see off his elders.
