Verdict
Plenty of these have claims in a typically competitive classified stakes race including Sheriff's Deputy, Karaoke, Half Inch and Dark Shah but the vote goes to Spuradich, who has a progressive profile. Sent to Italy to lose his maiden tag, the biggest concern for the selection would be the faster surface here but Luca Cumani's colt had earlier shown decent form at Windsor and Pontefract on a similarly fast surface and, with further improvement to come, he looks the one to be on. Sheriff's Deputy has improved with every start this term but is unproven over this trip and cannot be backed with confidence and a bigger threat may be Sylvester Kirk's Karaoke, who returns to the distance of his last win, having run creditably over further of late. Half Inch has a bit to find with the principals at the weights but has to be respected in her current form, while Dark Shah represents the in-form stable of Andrew Balding and has been running in some competitive handicaps recently. He may appreciate what appears to be a drop in grade.
