In depth
Verdict
Pious does not look overburdened here, and while her third at Southwell did not look too good at the time, it recieved a boost at the weekend when the winner of that event Baralinka, went on to finish a close fourth off a mark of 84 in a competitive handicap. Blue Velvet, a consistent mare, keeps running well without winning. She looks to have a stiff task. Gloaming may be better on faster ground, while Contrary Mary, in good form of late, looks to be high enough in the handicap for now. Alexander Academy, unlucky in running last time, may find some improvement for this step up in trip.
