In depth
Verdict
A race designed purely for horses coloured grey and our vote goes to Sir Desmond, with possibly Silver Charm and Laurel Dawn the ones to fight out the places. The selection looks to hold very solid claims here, particularly based on his third to the very useful Pivotal Point at Ascot two runs ago. If anywhere near that type of form, then he has to go close particularly given that he acts on good to soft. Silver Charm won off today's mark over six furlongs here in May so has to be considered although he has no form other going, but Laurel Dawn should have no problem with the underfoot conditions and was winning from a higher mark two years ago. Of the others, Fiveoclock Express acts on the going and could go well, while Kirkby's Treasure, who has won on soft, has a career-high mark to defy if scoring. To us, these look the best of them, with a solid vote going to Sir Desmond.
