Verdict

This interesting Listed race can go to Spanish Don, but virtually all of his opponents can be rated as dangers. Spanish Don sprang a surprise last time when landing the Cambridgeshire at this venue priced at 100/1. In truth, he really should not have been sent off at that dismissive price, and he's a decent runner. On ratings, he holds chances but so does Bonecrusher, who has won over course and distance on good to soft going so, clearly, grant him all due respect. Carte Sauvage would have needed his latest run, made on going he would not have liked at Newbury, so this lightly-raced Mark Johnston runner is another to give the once over, while the Godolphin representative, Iktibas, absolutely bolted up in a Thirsk maiden on his sole run to date and, being beautifully bred could really be anything. With the Autumn Stakes runner-up, Menokee, making his return to the track, this race carries plenty of interest, and, as we say, it might pay to stick with Spanish Don, but the advice is to keep a very close eye on the betting.
