A chance is taken with Native Title, who is holding his form well and he gets a tentative vote over Alderney Race, who is respected but has something to prove after a poor effort last time. Baltic King, Mutawaqued and Red Romeo are others with solid claims and are worth monitoring for signs of each-way support. The last named is open to improvement and the booking of Kieren Fallon really takes the eye. The champion jockey knows plenty about the four-year-old and he is definitely one to keep on the right side. Mutawaqued has often threatened to win a big race like this and should go well with Eddie Ahern back in the plate. Baltic King has a touch of class about him but does not always show it to it's best effect on the track. He receives very little help from the assessor and will struggle to reverse the recent Newbury form with Compton's Eleven. Last year's winner Moayed is 11lb higher in the weights and, although he cannot confidently be ruled out, his last few starts have been a little disappointing and others make more appeal. None more so than Native Title for us. The David Nicholls-trained gelding loves to weave his way through in these big fields and will have no trouble finding his feet on this ground. Analysis of the draw is inconclusive here these days. But a position in the dead centre of the track can also be a bonus for Native Title, as Paul Doe can manoeuvre him to whichever side he deems appropriate for his best chance if there is pronounced split.
