In depth

Verdict

An ultra-tough handicap and only a tentative nomination goes the way of Jaser, who heads our shortlist over Double On Red and Didana. Others to bear in mind include: stablemates Stevie Thunder and Mr Lu, who are both lightly raced and start their handicap careers at a modest level. Both are nicely bred types and have shown glimpses of promise in their starts so far. Didana was a comfortable winner on the All Weather last time out and this half-sister to the tough-as-teak Babodana is going the right way. She does have a bit more on her plate in this company but she is open to improvement and has hardly been crippled off a rating of just 68. Double On Red is another that has shown improvement and comes here on the back of her best effort to date. The ground should suit this daughter of Red Ransom and she can represent good each-way value. However, Jaser has a slender edge on the form already in the book and Peter Chapple-Hyam¿s charge is taken to brush aside the burden of top weight in the finale.
