In depth

Verdict

Not the best contest and one that can be taken by Mick Channon-trained Futoo. The colt has been well beaten on his two starts to date, but the step up in trip plus those experiences will certainly be to his advantage here. Furthermore, with the yard in magnificent form at present and three weeks since his last run to allow him to continue his progress at home, he is a tentative selection to land what is an uninspiring race. Big Bradford was second here to Mac Love, another Channon-trained runner, last time out and so the Lambourn handler probably has the best form lines to this race on his gallops. That said, the performance of Big Bradford looked no fluke and as he is the only other horse here to have made the frame he is well respected. Of the others with experience, Piccolo Prince and Morse make some appeal. Both thrashed on their only appearances so far, we are taking improvement on trust, but both yards would be looking for that improvement sooner rather than later and we can anticipate better showings here, though a win for either would be a bit of a turn up.
