Verdict
A competitive bumper rounds off proceedings and the market may prove the best guide to what is expected of the newcomers but they will have to be above average recruits to defeat the experienced Classical Ben. The gelding from the Richard Fahey yard won well when defeating Pavey Ark and he is sure to improve, so despite his penalty he is taken to score. Hawick rates the main danger he has shown enough in two similar contests to suggest he can win a race of this nature and his latest third behind Moonzie Laird gives him every chance. Blakes Road is a well bred sort from a yard that does well in this sphere so he is worth a cautionary look in the market, the same comment applies to Ghost Rider. Of the remainder Smithlyn has a stayers pedigree and is one to keep an eye on for the future.
