In depth

Verdict

Winthorpe only seems to win these days at big prices so double figures should not put anyone off, however the vote goes to Sands Of Barra ahead of Over The Tylery. The selection comes here on the back of a decent second at Musselburgh. That run, beaten a length behind Stellite, looks fairly solid and it was a return to form after a couple of below-par runs. A big field and a strongly-run stiff six around here looks ideal and he gets the pin vote. Dandy Nicholls has a fair record in this race and as a result his Messiah Garvey needs a check despite some average recent outings, whilst Dickie Le Davoir has a winner's penalty to overcome. Sea Rover is a horse who may bounce back to form at any point so don't rule him out, whilst Dorn Dancer is very consistent and is likely to be in the thick of it again. A Big Sky Brewing runs this track well, as does Brigadore but he handicaps himself by being slow out of the blocks. Over The Tylery has solid dorm in Ireland without striking gold and the market will probably lean in his favour, but until he wins he is fairly easy to pass on. A typically open sprint, with Sands Of Barra given the nod.
