Verdict

A trick maiden handicap is not the best of betting mediums but Hula Ballew can pay to follow at the expense of Prince Of The Wood who caught the eye last time out. Hula Ballew is trained by Michael Dods whose runners seem to be on good terms with themselves at present, and can emphasise that here. The filly shaped for all the world as though she would relish the step up to this distance when third over a mile and a quarter on the track last time. Although not bred to excel over staying journeys, there was a lot to like about her determination, and Hula Ballew certainly has more claims than most here. Prince Of The Wood, who had been running on the all weather, ran well at a big price behind Border Tale at Windsor so is worth a mention, while Creed comes from an in-form yard and is worth a glance without us being overly optimistic about his chance.
