        In depth

        Verdict

        In a race that lacks overall strength in depth, we like Marbush, Magnetic Pole and Kalamansi, with Marbush getting the vote. A half-brother to the useful Sublimity, Marbush ran extremely well when third on his Newmarket debut despite having to race virtually on his own throughout the contest. Much as the form of that race has been let down on a couple of occasions, Marbush created a favourable impression that day and can build on it here. Magnetic Pole was just touched off at Bath last time but, with the third from that race winning at Chester recently, the form has a solid look to it. Aqualung was a disappointing eighth in that race when expected to do better. Of the others, Dalmarnock is from a very good family but was cheaply acquired at the sales, but Protective is related to a number of winners and could go well from a yard that is in better form this term than last. Henry Cecil runs Miss Monica, who showed a modicum of promise on her Warwick debut, but of much more interest could be the Neville Callaghan-trained Kalamansi, who cost 60,000 guineas and is a quite well-related son of Sadler's Wells. Overall, though, we reckon that Marbush is the one to beat.
