King Of The Moors is a speculative choice ahead of Apache Nation, Myfrenchconnection and Thoranby Green (a stablemate of the selection). There may also be more to come from Kingsholm, who is on a fair mark just now but has proved to be hard to win with. Thornaby Green will have the assistance of 7lb claimer Dean Heslop, as he bids to make a winning reappearance. Heslop knows the gelding well and, at the odds, his mount is worth considering for an each-way play. Myfrenchconnection has held his form, despite creeping up the weights, and he is not without claims at this level. Still, he does seem to reserve his best for Beverley and may be best waited with until he returns to that East Yorkshire course. Apache Nation is another capable in this grade and, having won this race last year, he is respected as a live danger. However, he is set to race off a 5lb higher mark and needs to be at the top of his game to prevail. Therefore, we are prepared to take a chance with King Of The Moors, who has dropped to a very handy mark and, as he appears to be peaking at the right time, he makes the most appeal at the likely odds.
