Verdict

A tough finale to the card can go to Goodbye Mr Bond, who is fit from the all weather and heads a long list of those who arrive here with chances after posting good efforts on their latest starts. These include: Efidium, who stayed on to good effect at Thirsk last week, Megan's Magic, who has a little more to do under a 5lb penalty, and Open Handed, who extended the run of good form shown by Brian Ellison's runners when scoring at Beverley earlier this month. However, Goodbye Mr Bond can be very hard to deal with when he encounters his ideal conditions so, with the trip and ground in his favour, the Eric Alston-trained gelding is fancied to gain an overdue success if John Egan can keep him handy once he gets into his rhythm. The draw could have been a little kinder to the selection so it may also be worth looking at how the market speaks about Efidium before taking the plunge with Goodbye Mr Bond as well.
