In depth

Verdict

Councellor is given the verdict ahead of Anchor Date and Cross My Mind. Councellor looked to have an obvious chance on the book at Epsom on his most recent start and he certainly went into most people's notebooks when finishing an eyecatching second at Epsom. With a plum draw tonight and hopefully better luck, he is very difficult to get away from as a betting medium. Anchor Date chased home a Tregoning hotpot at Thirsk on his most recent start. The going and trip do not inconvenience on this occasion. Cross My Mind is best in on official figures. Connections are not taking any chances with McEvoy replacing a talented claimer. Speakerboxxx is part-owned by Willie Carson. This trip looks ideal on breeding so the market is watched. Art Royal was sent off as second favourite behind Rob Roy for a Newmarket maiden at the back end of last term. Given Amanda Perrett's recent form at present - we will give him the swerve. Of the remainder, Cyclonic was backed off the boards at Lingfield on debut. Initially put in at 14/1 - he was returned at 4/1 but ran no sort of a race. Councellor looked to have future winner written all over him last time up and we will not desert him on this occasion.
