    Verdict

VERACIOUS (NAP) beat Winter Lightning by four lengths in a maiden last season and has done nothing wrong in a light campaign this year. She was third behind Alpha Centauri in the Coronation Stakes on her reappearance and then second behind Oaks runner-up Wild Illusion in the Nassau at Goodwood – that form is far superior to that of today’s rivals. Laugh Aloud won the Princess Elizabeth at Epsom last year, her first run in this grade, but hasn’t been seen since. Awesometank has the more recent form having stepped up on previous efforts when landing a Listed contest over track and trip in July and she makes more appeal than Ascot scorer Clon Coulis.

New Day Dawn (IRE) 12-1 (8-9) Always prominent, every chance 2f out, kept on same pace approaching final furlong, no chance with easy winner, 2nd of 11, 8l behind Unforgetable Filly (9-2) at Haydock 1m lst fll stks (1) gf in Aug.
