Verdict

Compton Star deserves to get his head in front following some decent placed efforts but the Ron Hodges-trained gelding may find the conditions too testing and a safer bet looks to be Nike Walker, who gets the vote ahead of Kick And Prance. The last mentioned will have no problems with the underfoot conditions but Jonathan Geake's four-year-old faces no easy task off a 7lb higher mark than for his narrow success at Fontwell last month and he may be booked for a place at best today. First Slip has yet to prove that he handles ground this testing, while Mister Mustard may be a shade high in the weights. The same cannot be said of Nike Walker though who put previous form behind him when running out the comfortable winner of a Market Rasen handicap under testing conditions on Monday and he should be capable of defying a 7lb penalty.
