Verdict
An interesting race where the competitive nature of the previous races on the card is upheld by the bringing together of a closely matched field. However, recent form and jockey bookings sway the vote towards Caesar, who is selected over his stablemate Yankiedoodledandy and Keepers Knight, who shaped as if worth a try over this trip when slightly disappointing last time. Red Lancer is also very much respected as he comes here on a hat-trick bid and has already proved that he can get the better of a few of these if everything goes his way. His rider's claim virtually does away with his penalty and he will be very hard to keep out of the frame. However, Caesar should appreciate this extra furlong today and is selected on the grounds of value. Gavin Faulkner has got on well with the selection in both their previous outings together and they are taken to give the best run for the money in a wide-open handicap where not too many can be confidently ruled out.
