Verdict
As front runners do well at this track over almost any trip it may pay to give Baby Barry a chance to prove that he is no back number yet and the Geraldine Rees-trained six-year-old edges a narrow vote from On The Trail, who goes well here, and Boisdale, who also has sold course form to his name. Toppling and Majik are others to consider for a place out of those who like to come from off the pace - whilst Victoria Park is one to monitor for this time around before the winter campaign on the all weather surfaces in the coming months. However, Baby Barry, who acted well on his first appearance on sand since his juvenile days when finishing third at Wolverhampton in August, finds himself on a very lenient mark these days and would not really have to be at his best to out-speed most of these if he is anywhere near on song. The draw could have been kinder to the selection but he has enough early pace to gain a prominent position before they take the turn for home. On The Trail comes from a yard that is bang in-form at the moment but his tendency to burn out near the end of his races will always make him vulnerable at this level; especially considering that he has never won outside of selling grade at this track. Therefore Baby Barry is fancied to hold them all off near the finish today.
