Verdict
The form of Sovereignty's effort behind subsequent Mill Reef Stakes winner Galeota is easily the best on offer and this appears to be another one to keep the David Loder bandwagon rolling on. Fidra stayed on in eye-catching fashion late in the day on her reappearance and, along with the selection's stablemate Bella Miranda, appeals as the best of the rest. Fidra is a half-sister to several winners on the continent and should be able to find a race somewhere along the line. The daughter of Vettori easily had the measure of Amorist when they met here a fortnight ago and, with more forceful tactics from the start, can give them all something to think about. However, it is very hard to escape the claims of Sovereignty, who being out of May Hill Stakes winner Calando, is expected to improve for the step up in trip. The in-form Neil Callan has been picking up several rides for the stable recently, but none appear have held the potential of Sovereignty, who is expected to be a class above this lot today.
