Verdict
Maddies A Jem and Indian Steppes have returned to somewhere near their best and should figure in the finish here, but we will side with Emerald Fire. Andrew Balding's mare is having her first visit to Southwell but performed with credit on the all-weather at Lingfield last winter. She returned recently from a mid-summer break to put in two decent display at Salisbury and Leicester and off today's weight looks to have a tremendous chance. Indian Steppes ran well over course and distance, making a race of it with Freak Occurrence, going down by just a neck. If she repeats that effort she will be very hard to keep out of the frame. Maddies A Jem has had a very successful turf campaign, winning three times, and with decent form here in the past she is another that warrants respect. The pick of the others should be Cloud Dancer, but Emerald Fire looks well treated and gets the decision
