      Verdict

      This is a fascinating novice event, just a small field, but they can all be given some sort of chance. We will go with winning form and take Major Faux Pas to beat Piccolomini and Swindon. Jamie Osborne's son of Barathea made an impressive winning debut over the seven furlong trip at Wolverhampton last month, beating Belly Dancer by a comfortable length and three quarters. That runner up has a rating of 75, so the form could turn out to be pretty decent, and with improvement almost guaranteed he looks the one to beat. However he will not have things all his own way, Mark Johnston runs Piccolomini who put up a promising debut effort at Musselburgh, finishing a close up third after running very green in the early stages. Paul Cole has been doing well on the all-weather recently so his newcomer Swindon, who is superbly bred by Kingmambo out of an Irish Oaks winner, has to be given every respect. Doctor's Cave and Desperation are both well exposed, but have shown enough to warrant a mention, but Major Faux Pas was so impressive on his debut he can't be ignored
