In depth

Verdict

Grangeclare View was up against a couple of useful performers at Newcastle and ran well here in December. Regal Vega has to be on the shortlist after splitting a couple of well-regarded Mark Johnston performers at Haydock in October while Helm Rock attempted to make all over the track and trip earlier this month and stayed on reasonably well when headed. In second that day came ARCTIC EMPEROR, who couldn't get to the well-supported winner but showed enough to suggest a race of this nature should be within his capabilities. Thunderclap missed the break on his debut here and should do better.
