In depth
Verdict
In-form Sir Norman can pop in again at the expense of topweight Special Agenda and Mestre Sala. Sir Norman was a consistent sort last term, placed on many occasions, but finally came good again at Kelso in May, off a mark 21lb higher than his last victory in November. He raced from 3lb out of the handicap at Kelso, and is not badly treated here with that in mind. Providing that he can handle the faster ground, the eight-year-old should take all the beating. Special Agenda has not won for just over a year but gave lumps of weight to The Staggery Boy at Newton Abbot last time, and the step up in trip should suit him. Mestre Sala has had only four starts over fences but scored here in November, albeit in soft ground. A third fence faller at Worcester nine days ago, he should go well but might find the ground a bit lively. Even so, he makes more appeal for a place than the likes of Dantie Boy and L'Etang Bleu. To sum up, Sir Norman has been give a great chance of adding to his tally.
