Verdict

Good Potential can defy a near six-month absence to land the finale at the expense of So Sure, Wild Power and Pilca. Good Potential is the only last time out winner in the line up, that victory coming at Bangor in September. That was deserved after a busy campaign, after which he was to undergo a wind operation. If fit enough on his comeback, David Wintle's charge can carry on where he left off. So Sure is fitter but always seems to find one or two just a bit too good. Nevertheless he looks sure to be fighting it out for a place again. Ex-German Wild Power was successful at Stratford last year but disappointed badly at Fakenham soon after when not allowed to lead. More forceful tactics will help his bid, and he too has a bit of an absence to overcome. Martin Pipe saddles both Figaro du Rocher and Pilca, with the latter preferred, although neither has shown a great deal of late, and for the winner we return to Good Potential.
