Verdict
Zipalong Lad and One Of The Boys both showed promise first time out but it may be worth taking a chance with the newcomer Calusa Charlie. The selection takes the eye on pedigree being an Old Vic half-brother to several winners and any market move for Brendan Powell's gelding should be noted. Zipalong Lad found just Billyandi too good on his debut over course and distance earlier this month and a reproduction of that effort would see him go close, while One Of The Boys met trouble in running on his debut and is entitled to go close from a stable with a good record in bumpers. Shining Joy has point-to-point experience and could be interesting on his rules debut, while a market move for either of the Richard Phillips-trained runners Chastleton Boy and Royal Cliche would be of interest. Calusa Charlie makes plenty of appeal on his debut though and he gets the vote.
