In depth
Verdict
A fairly wide-open event may see Fast Cindy get the better of topweight Mersey Sound, Henry Island and Red Sun. The latter has been in winning form over hurdles but ran really well on the level at Doncaster last month when a close second to Bustling Rio. He ran with a bit too much enthusiasm at the Yorkshire track and if Paul Hanagan can restrain him the drop back in trip need not be a hindrance. He may reach the frame at a decent price, while Henry Island, successful over further here last time, is a quirky sort who is not guaranteed to give his true running. Mersey Sound will have his supporters after a gutsy victory at Newbury. That was only his second career win and having made the most of the drop to a lenient mark, will find it tougher as he goes back up the weights. With that in mind we fancy Kevin Darley to be on the mark again, courtesy of Fast Cindy. Paul Cole¿s filly would have preferred a stronger pace when beaten a neck on her return here in April on what was her first outing since October. The winner Ziggy Zen was admittedly given a confident ride by Kieren Fallon, but even so there was a lot to like about the attitude of Fast Cindy who stuck to her task well. It is significant that Darley keeps the ride and she is taken to go one better.
