The drop in trip should suit Rudolf Rassendyll, who just edges out the in-form The Last Mohican, who has mopped up in some weak races but faces a stiffer test here. Therefore a bigger threat to the selection may be posed by the unexposed Lirta, who tries this distance for the first time and, being a Martin Pipe-trained runner, he could easily come into his own now that he tries further. A careful watch on the betting is advised where he is concerned. The lightly weighted Miss Mailmit has started to get her act together now and is one to keep an eye on in the race for next time. However, Rudolf Rassendyll makes far more appeal today, as he should have benefited greatly from his reappearance three weeks ago. Venetia Williams has her string in cracking form at present and considering that the selection is only 3lb higher than the last time he was successful, this looks a good opportunity to side with a horse that has plenty of ability and has a great chance at the weights this afternoon.
