In depth
Verdict
Firewire won with plenty in hand at Kempton last week and is taken to follow up under a 6lb penalty with Giunchiglio and Russian Comrade rated the main dangers. The selection signalled that his turn would soon come when chasing home Must Be Magic at the Sunbury venue last month and could hardly have obliged in more impressive fashion when returning to the course on Wednesday, beating Somayda by four lengths. Still well handicapped on the pick of last season's form, the Brooke Sanders-trained five-year-old is the one they all have to beat. Giunchiglio is still a maiden but has shown enough in recent outings to suggest he is capable of taking a hand off his current mark, while James Tuck's Russian Comrade has his first outing since winning a handicap at Navan in June and could be interesting on his British debut. The lightly raced Samar Qand and Henry Candy's Amnesty are others worthy of a mention but in a poor contest Firewire is a confident selection.
